Prime Minister Says Nation First Principle Driving India’s Rise as Trusted Global Power

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the principle of placing the nation first has driven India’s emergence as a fast-growing and trusted global power. Speaking at a summit in New Delhi, he highlighted twelve years of governance, poverty reduction, infrastructure expansion, healthcare reforms and rising opportunities, expressing confidence that 1.4 billion citizens would help realise the vision of a developed India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the principle of placing the nation above all else has been the driving force behind India’s transformation into one of the world’s fastest-growing, credible and reliable powers. Addressing a summit organised by a private media organisation in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said the country’s achievements over the past decade had been built on trust, stability and a commitment to the larger global good.

Referring to his recent participation in the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi said global leaders recognised India’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding national interests. He said this philosophy continued to shape the country’s policies and development agenda.

Highlighting the government’s twelve years in office, the Prime Minister said programmes such as the Clean India Mission, the Make in India initiative, the promotion of hand-spun fabric and support for locally manufactured products had achieved success because citizens embraced the spirit of nation-building.

Prime Minister Modi said nearly 250 million people had emerged from poverty in recent years, leading to the rise of a large new middle class and providing a major boost to economic activity. He stressed that empowering the poor and the middle class remained a key priority for the government. He cited affordable housing programmes, tax reforms, healthcare schemes and improvements in urban infrastructure as major measures undertaken to strengthen social and economic progress.

The Prime Minister said projects such as the Special Window for Affordable and Mid-Income Housing Fund had enabled the completion of thousands of stalled housing units. He added that digital governance and simplified tax administration had reduced compliance burdens and enhanced transparency.

Emphasising the country’s expanding infrastructure network, Prime Minister Modi said metro rail systems now carried more than 10 million passengers every day. He said modern train services, including Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat and Amrit Bharat, along with expanded highways and airports, had significantly improved connectivity across the country.

He also highlighted the availability of affordable medicines through Jan Aushadhi centres and expanded healthcare coverage for senior citizens, saying these measures had reduced out-of-pocket expenses for millions of families.

Prime Minister Modi said India was entering a period of unprecedented opportunity despite continuing global disruptions. Calling upon the country’s youth, entrepreneurs, innovators and startup enterprises to seize emerging opportunities, he expressed confidence that the collective efforts of 1.4 billion citizens would help realise the vision of a developed India in the years ahead.

Underscoring the significance of sustained reforms and citizen participation, the Prime Minister said the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation would be driven by the aspirations, innovation and determination of its people, reinforcing India’s growing stature on the global stage.
